Total Solar Eclipse

Total Solar Eclipse - Diamond Ring

Today 20th of march 2015 at 09.41 to 09. 43 there has been a total solar eclipse in the Faroe Islands. I feel so lucky to have got to experience such a rare event! It was unbelievable special to see how the moon slowly moved in between the sun and the earth casting a shadow on the sun, and how the day turned from daylight to darkness, and then back to light. For those two minutes everything was silent. It was amazing! Read and see more photos below.

We started the day off driving to a small village called Æðuvík, where we were invited to a delicious breakfast. After eating we went out to get a better look and feel of the solar eclipse. We wanted to be near the sea, so that we could see the sun reflecting in the water. There was a big chance we weren’t going to see anything at all, because it was a cloudy day, but the weather cleared up at the last minute possible. We got the see the diamond ring, and the moon passing the sun, which made the experience incredible. The next time there will be a total solar eclipse in the Faroe Islands will be over 200 years from now. So this was great.

I have taken some photos of the extraordinary moment, but the quality is not the best, so you will have to excuse that.
