Recipe: Sausage Rolls

Every time I make these sausage rolls or Party hotdogs as we call them, they tend to be gone after a short while, especially when there are children around.

These are the perfect snack to have on hand whenever my little sister brings home her friends from school or there is a birthday party. They are freezable and quick to heat up in the oven or pop in the micro waver when a snack is needed in a hurry.

The recipe is for 32 sausage rolls:

25 gr. yeast
3 dl. milk
100 gr. butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 egg
600 gr. flour

32 brunch sausages (I just used regular and cut them in half they can also be frozen)
Ketchup
Egg for brushing

Heat the milk to lukewarm, and stir the yeast into it.
Crumble the butter with the flour.
Add lukewarm milk mixture, salt, sugar and the egg in with the flour and knead it to a smooth and even consistency. Cover the dough with a tea towel, and leave it raising for 1 hour.
Knead the dough again to get the air out of it, and divide it into 4 equal sized pieces. Each piece is rolled out to a flat circle with a rolling pin, and sliced into 8 triangles (32 triangles in total).
Place a small blob of ketchup on each slice with a sausage on top, and roll it together from the wide end to the narrow one. Place it on a baking tray covered with baking paper with the tip downwards.
The sausage rolls are left to raise for 30 minutes, then brushed with egg and baked for 15-20 minutes in a preheated oven at 200 degrees C.
